ending the radio silence...

last time we checked in, the pack was leaving Yellowstone and headed to parts unknown....not really, we were headed to Idaho.

we meandered through Idaho and checked out cool stuff.  did you know:  the town of Idaho Falls is named for the falls, which is a man made dam constructed for hydro electric - apparently they were just rapids before that and a 20ft high cement barrier created the falls - they are worth a look!

next stop was craters of the moon national monument & preserve - this place was ridiculously cool and awesome; 2 days is enough to check it all out.  we stayed at the lava flow campground...yep, it's a 2000 year old lava flow (a baby in geology terms) and we camped there!
there's tiberius, to the left of the green tent, IN THE MIDDLE OF A LAVA FIELD!

here is a quick slide show with the rest of the pics from this ridiculously wonderful place, make it a point to get there and check it out!

we made our way up to Ketchum & Sun Valley Idaho, did a quick jeep drive through the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and were busily planning our trek to WA....and it all comes to a screeching halt literally!  tiberius blew his alternator = unable to charge our house & start batteries and then just to make it interesting, the emergency brake starts to lock-up while coming over the Sierras!

we made it to the bay area safe, tiberius has decided that he needs a respite...

but that's for another post...
