we moved, finally! after 6 days in this very large state, we have; experienced a snow storm that dumped over a foot of the fluffy white cold stuff in the guadalupe mountains...

after the civil war, the main purpose of the fort was to protect road between el paso and san antonio...it was smack dab between the comanche trail and the apache trail...sounds fun :-/ |
this fort was really amazing, it was the home of the
'buffalo soldier', it had a great museum, you could walk the grounds of the fort freely and...they let mans best friend in! yes, this pup strutted his stuff proudly all over this historic site!
the people of fort davis have a fabulous sense of humor...
just when we thought we were cold enough (remember, we're in texas?); 3 days of sleet, ice and 11 degree temps, landed us in juntion, tx at
north llano river campground. after a slightly terrifying 6 hour/100 mile trip across I-10, we found the last campsite available in town, plugged in and warmed up...for 2 days! i was very, very cold!

finally, it's our 7th day in texas and we have made it 1/2 way across the state, just outside of austin. we are getting ready to have dinner with family and it's gonna be 60 degrees tomorrow...i'm a happy pup!
