just killin' time

whilst I was waiting to hook-up with my girl Swarley-for a few days of rough housing, wrestling and random humping (stop it...we are both fixed), my pack decided to hang out in the San Bernardino National Forrest.

What to do while in the San Bernardino National Forrest?  Fishing was a wash; it's a drought year and you can really see the effects on these small rivers and creeks.  Off-roading and 4-wheeling seem to be the big draw here, but after the blow-out out side of Death Valley, Baja Joe is a bit more cautious on some of these roads.  Hiking!  That's the ticket, we'll go hiking to Bishop Falls.  Got the map (the ranger was later described as not being a "font" of information), did not really look at the map (which was promptly left in the jeep), and then took off on our hike....only a mile and a half round trip...we got this.

THREE miles in, we ran into a couple of cute hikers that proclaimed "Wow, you are really off the trail".  We did eventually see the elusive Bishop Falls at the end of our 3 hour tour (6 miles) and then we proceed back to camp and collapsed.

We then had our first run in with the Santa Ana winds; at 28 miles per hour, they ripped our awning right off of the coach.

Finally the winds helped spark a fire in the forrest and it was time for us to go!

We are back in the high desert and headed to Sawtoooth Canyon in Lucern Valley, just killin time till the awning parts arrive in San Bernardino and the appropriate repairs made.

it's a dog life!
