volcano #3 - Mount Mazama = Crater Lake

Wow!  #3 on our "cascade volcano's" tour did not disappoint, here's a list of our top 5 reasons to visit Crater Lake National Park:

5. pups are allowed on 3 of the trails in this NP; godfrey glen trail, lady of the woods trail and pacific crest trail. way to be dog friendly, crater lake NP!
4. you can complete the 33 mile rim drive in 2-3 hours, including stops at any of the over 30 pull-outs.  perfect, cause pups get bored on drives any longer than that.
3. crater lake is the deepest lake in the us at 1943 ft; it is so blue and is considered to be the cleanest large body of water in the world....no kidding.
2.  it is a lake, in the caldera of the sunken volcano, mount mazama....all at the same time!

where's the volcano?
in the distance - grouse hill. 7412 ft
seriously... i don't see it.
we stayed  the night, right outside the park(south entrance) at annie creek sno-park run by the usda-forest service.  permits for use are required during the winter, but from May 1 to Nov 14, sno-parks are a perfect stop for this pack.  annie creek is the only spring fed creek in the park and it provides all of the parks drinking water...bet, you didn't know that!
